Coram Boy - Adapted by Helen Edmundson from the novel by Jamila Gavin

Coram Boy...a tale of two cities...

An epic adventure set in the dark heart of 18th century England. A tale of fathers and sons, a tale of two cities and a tale of two orphans at the Coram Hospital for Foundling Children.

“As gripping, terrifying, beautiful and moving as anything you will see in the theatre this year.”  — Daily Telegraph

When the show opened at the National in 2005, it was a great hit; a thrilling piece of theatre and, at its heart is an enthralling story which is at once, moving, exuberant and terrifying. The epic tale, described by Philip Pullman is “a rich and almost gothic drama, full of dastardly villains, cold-hearted aristocrats, devoted friends and passionate lovers, set against a background of cruelty, music and murder” lends itself so well to a Minack treatment and is, in any case, right up our street!
